Senator Baddour welcomes Miss Massachusetts Junior Teen Christina DelRosso of Haverhill
July 22, 2010 - Senator Steven A. Baddour (D-Methuen) was proud to introduce to his colleagues Christina DelRosso of Haverhill, winner of the National American Miss Massachusetts Junior Teen Pageant 2010.
When Christina was two years old, she was diagnosed with neuroblastoma, a childhood cancer. She spent seven years as a patient at the Dana-Farber Jimmy Fund Clinic.
Christina has beaten her cancer and now helps raise money for families affected by the disease through the Dan Ford Cancer Foundation. The foundation, named in memory of her late uncle, a high school friend of mine, helps families of cancer patients who are having difficulty paying medical bills.
Christina’s volunteer work was one of the factors that helped her to win her title. Christina competed against 55 other girls for the title of National American Miss Massachusetts Junior. Contestants were judged not only on their appearance, but also on poise, confidence, public speaking ability and community involvement.
Christina will represent Massachusetts in the national pageant in Hollywood this November. Her long term goal is to become a pediatric oncologist.
